Guest Post

G'Morning. Today's post is by me, NewmanAlexander. My photo is over on the right.. Yeah, that's me, I'm the one with long curly ears.... and a tail.

Hey! I'm filling in today cuz some people are all tired out from the busy morning we've had around here. Not me, of course, I'm still up for anything. Besides it's bright and sunny out, so let's get out there!

I start my day at dark-thirty.... in dogtalk, that's just before the sun comes up.... the same time the squirrels come out .... and they're in MY Yard... and I need to go chase 'em back up into their trees where they belong.

I figure that since we're out there and I've gotten rid of the pesky squirrels, hey, we may as well catch the ball a few times (I've got a really neat ball that glows in the dark) .... besides it's freezing out here, and I need to get my blood moving! I'm not like some people, standing over there in their jammies, whining about not having any coffee yet... hey I never have coffee, and lookit me, I've already put the squirrels back in the tree, dug thru my leaf pile to find my bear and brought that ball back for her umpteen times. I do all the hard work, she just has to throw it.

This is me and my favorite glow-in-the-dark ball. We don't have any photos of me when we were out earlier, at dark-thirty, she didn't take any. Besides she was barely able to even throw the ball because she was so busy scraping the frost off her chair and whining about it being freezing and complaining about me waking her up. Doesn't she know there are squirrels in my yard?

Come 'ere, yeah, over here, behind the fence... this is where I keep my spare pile of toys. Sometimes the neighbors throw them back in my yard, but this is where I keep 'em... it's a lot of extra work for me to run around finding them all, again. and putting them back where they belong... I wish they'd leave my stuff alone... besides they're mine! and this is where they belong!

This is where I keep my stuff, I hide it right here, behind the fence...

I like to run thru my leaf pile every time I chase the ball. I love this leaf pile!

It's the perfect spot to take a little rest.... it would be better if somebody would rake them back into a pile.  I think all my jumping and rooting around in here has them kinda spread out... again

Look at how nice and muddy my ball is this morning. It's starting to thaw out now, so the dirt and leaves are sticking to it really good... the muddier and gross, the better!

I know there's a tennis ball in here somewhere... now where did I leave it?

I found my favorite moose instead, lucky for him.

She's still whining about having her coffee... I think I'll ignore her...

maybe if I bring her my ball to play with, we can stay out here a bit longer...

That's my story. I have to cut this short. I just spotted that squirrel thru the window and I'd better get out there and set all of them straight about whose yard this really is!

Newman, Pleasure to meet you!! Your flowing ears are really awesome. Our ears stick up most of the time, unless we are in trouble or are making lovey-eyes at Mommy. Squirrels are a huge concern for us, too. They just never get the message!! It keeps us very, very busy. That, plus the pesky mouse issue. Pepper is a Chihuahua crossed with Scottie and I (Weederman) and a Cairn Terrier mixed with Chihuahua so the little darting mice are perfect for us to hunt. Don't think that Mommy is a dog breeder - she found each of us needing homes, and adopted us. Are you a Springer Spaniel? It was fun reading about your ball, the leaves and everything. What is it about coffee anyway? Have a great day! P & W.

Newman Alexander, I think you might have a future in journalism...if only you could type.

Oh and go easy on the humans, they need their coffee. They're not...let's say...human enough without it. Trust me.

Thanks all for the comments. We're not sure about Newman's ancestors, as he found us all by himself. He's from the Spaniel family, most likely. He got his name from moving in and taking over, thinking he was the "New Man in charge", until his feline sisters set him straight... hence "Newman".
